Gun Owners Worse than Child Molesters!
I don’t watch the Today Show, because I work, but I think it is one of the most worthless “news” shows there ever was. From Al Roker admitting lap band surgery makes him poopey himself, to Matt Lauer being a scumbag, to Savannah Guthrie pretending she is a real journalist, it is a gigantic waste of time for me.
I don’t watch it, so it takes me a couple of days before I see something like this. Lauer was having a panel discussion on the publishing of names and addresses of legal gun owners by The Journal News, a New York newspaper.
On his panel were Star Jones (of The View fame), ad exec Donny Deutsch, and NBC’s chief medical editor Nancy Snyderman. Here’s Lauer’s question:
MATT LAUER: Let’s move over to this, the battle over guns. A New York-area newspaper, in the wake of the Newtown, Connecticut shootings, did something unusual. They published the names and addresses of handgun permit holders in their area, more than 33,000 people. Now putting First Amendment considerations aside, should the newspaper have done this?
The discussion moves on to children, and them wanting to know if there is a gun in someone’s home before they let their child go over for a play date. There is a lot of back and forth until Deutsch says this:
DEUTSCH: No, no, exactly. You are – when you have a gun, you are setting yourself up as somebody…
JONES: I agree.
DEUTSCH: …different. It’s your choice, by the way.
So, if you own a gun, you’re different.
What happened to the so-called tolerance of the left? Aren’t we supposed to embrace and celebrate our differences?
Oh, that’s right. That’s only works for gays or Muslims.
But more disturbing was this from Snyderman:
DEUTSCH: And by the way, it’s different between – and you’re just you. I actually think it’s a vulgar display of everything that’s wrong with what’s going on with guns. And I’m sorry if we pull the veil back and say you have a gun.
SNYDERMAN: Yeah, we’re not outing child molesters, this is a legal transaction, it’s a public transaction.
So we shouldn’t out child molesters by virtue of them not being “public”? I don’t understand what she’s trying to say here. Child molesters good, gun owners bad?
This is what it is coming to. The media has embarked on a campaign to make gun owners pariahs in their communities, someone who should be feared. Not the mentally ill perpetrators of these crimes, only those who are responsible. They are drawing people who own guns, or want to own guns as abnormal, that there is something wrong with you. This is how they marginalize, and erode your rights.
I’ve said before this is a full court press on the part of the media. This is not debate. This is the belittling of people who want to exercise their natural rights.
