Feinstein’s Gun Control Bill and “Government Officials”

Posted on February 5, 2013. Filed under: Gun Control, Politics |

Almost two weeks ago, I posted an article about how Dianne Feinstein’s gun control bill exempted “government officials”. According to Factcheck.org, which is a fact checking organization that I trust more than any of the “politifact” websites, Feinstein’s ban does not include government officials.

I try my best to make sure that everything that I comment on is correct. I trusted two sources, the Washington Times and the Huffington Post. I figured that HuffPo would deride it if it wasn’t true, but it verified it instead.

There is plenty of misinformation floating around out there. The latest is that page 13 of her bill outlaws all guns with a pistol grip. It doesn’t, as far as I can tell. All page 13 does is define what is meant by a grip.

I guess we all see what we want to see from time to time, but I am still very surprised that it was carried on by the Huffington Post of all places.

I’ll still try to make sure things are verified by more than one source before I say anything.

I’m just a blog. I’m supposed to get my shit wrong most of the time, but news outlets? Come on, folks, get your shit together!
