Republicans True Colors Starting to Show
This certainly comes as no surprise to me, though his supporters are shocked.
Rand Paul took a moment yesterday to reveal that he is actually Dr. Strangelove in disguise.
After grandstanding and filibustering the nomination of John Brennan over drones, during which he gathered quite a following, he turned around yesterday and said:
“I’ve never argued against any technology being used when you have an imminent threat, an active crime going on. If someone comes out of a liquor store with a weapon and fifty dollars in cash. I don’t care if a drone kills him or a policeman kills him.”
So, Paul doesn’t care if a citizen gets due process or not. It shows that he is as full of it as everyone else, because during his filibuster, he was quoted as saying this:
“I will speak as long as it takes, until the alarm is sounded from coast to coast that our Constitution is important, that your rights to trial by jury are precious, that no American should be killed by a drone on American soil without first being charged with a crime, without first being found to be guilty by a court.”
Obviously, they aren’t that precious.
Paul’s filibuster had only one purpose, and that was to get people behind him for a 2016 presidential run. He needed to make his name national. He didn’t care if he got his question answered or not, only that he made the news and people talked about him.
Due to the backlash that might hurt his presidential chances, Paul issued this statement. Note that this is not a retraction.
My comments last night left the mistaken impression that my position on drones had changed.
Let me be clear: it has not. Armed drones should not be used in normal crime situations. They only may only be considered in extraordinary, lethal situations where there is an ongoing, imminent threat. I described that scenario previously during my Senate filibuster.
Additionally, surveillance drones should only be used with warrants and specific targets.
Fighting terrorism and capturing terrorists must be done while preserving our constitutional protections. This was demonstrated last week in Boston. As we all seek to prevent future tragedies, we must continue to bear this in mind.
Let me be clear: that’s not what you said, Mr. Senator. The problem is that you exposed yourself to being a self serving, self aggrandizing piece of shit politician just like every other piece of shit politician in Washington. You sir, are a fucking hypocrite and an asshole.
But it isn’t just him. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham wants to suspend the Constitution where terrorists are concerned. The surviving terrorist is an American citizen. I doesn’t matter if he’s been a citizen for 6 months or 6 days. He still has rights.
Once you find reason to suspend the Constitution in one single case, it becomes easier to find reason to suspend it for a greater number of people and perceived threats.
[Even though Forbes and the press are incorrectly reporting that he is being denied his rights by not being Mirandized, the truth is that he still has his rights. Miranda only informs you of your rights, it does not confer or bestow them]
Graham poses as a “strict Constitutionalist”.
Except when it gets in his way.
Freshman Republican Senator Marco Rubio, part of the notorious Gang of Eight, is pushing for immigration reform. Essentially, it is amnesty first, security second (if at all). This is the same bill we have been given over and over since 1986. The end result is that illegal immigration is on the rise in anticipation of this bill being passed.
In addition, left wing news sites are being very open about how the bill, if passed, will be a boon to Democrats for at least a generation.
So, who are you working for, Mr. “Conservative” Senator? Are you a Democrat in disguise?
Of course, you also have erstwhile Republican Presidential candidate John McCain, whose years as a prisoner in Vietnam has affected more than his arms.
Don’t get me wrong, McCain is to be admired as a war hero.
But as a politician, he sucks. For years, he has pushed for amnesty. Reagan admitted that amnesty was one of the greatest mistakes he ever made. So, if these people want to invoke Reagan’s name, they should stop trying to push this amnesty. It won’t help the Republicans with the Latino vote. They are still going to vote Democrat, and you are going to give them a lot more that aren’t already voting.
The immigration system isn’t broken. Require that employers run Social Security numbers through a Federal database at the time of hire. Deny the illegals jobs, and they will go elsewhere to find work.
Those that work, anyway. There are a large number of illegals taking up space in our prisons. Not all come to work.
Investigate, and get them off the welfare and food stamp rolls. Deny them government benefits, and they will move on.
According to the Washington Times, amnesty would disproportionately harm the black community, which is already experiencing sky high unemployment.
The Republicans and Democrats may say that they have different beliefs, but they really don’t. They both want to take our rights away and subjugate us, the American people.
And I think they will ultimately succeed, because the Democrat base ignores the bad things the Democrats do because they are Democrats, while the Republican base does the same for Republicans, because they are Republicans.
But they are all the same.
Power hungry bastards who don’t know what it is to “serve”. They only know how to rule.
So, does it really surprise you when Rand Paul shows his true colors?
It makes one frustrated with the whole process when we vote out one assclown for another. It makes me want to give up, not because I don’t believe in the system, but because I don’t believe in the scum we get to choose from.
