Obamacare Exchanges: Day 3.

We are being told repeatedly that the Obamacare Exchanges are a huge success story, despite the problems and glitches, that there is widespread enthusiasm and interest.

California reported that their site, Covered California, received over 5 million hits to their website on the first day alone.

That’s a lot of people.

Unfortunately for them, the Los Angeles Times says it isn’t true.

The Times reports that the number was actually 645,000, about 13% of what the government initially claimed.

For those Obamacare watchers, that’s an increase of about 675%.

So, it looks like the exchanges don’t just inflate your premiums by a huge amount. They also inflate the amount of traffic they receive.

Dana Howard, a spokesman for Covered California, said the error was the result of internal miscommunication.

“Someone misspoke and thought it was indeed 5 million hits. That was incorrect,” he said.

Wow. That’s quite the misunderstanding.
